TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN Streptococcus pyogenes

Bunga Marigold atau bunga Gemitir ( Tagetes erecta Linn. ) mengandung
senyawa metabolit sekunder seperti flavonoid, fenolik, dan alkaloid. Adanya
kandungan metabolit sekunder ini berpotensi sebagai agen antibakteri terhadap
mikroorganisme. Bunga Tagetes erecta Linn. telah banyak dimanfaatkan sebagai
obat tradisional dalam menyembuhkan berbagai macam penyakit salah satunya
infeksi saluran nafas bagian atas atau faringitis. Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini
untuk menganalisis apakah ekstrak etanol bunga gemitir memiliki aktivitas
antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus pyogenes. Sampel bunga
gemitir diekstraksi dengan etanol 70%, kemudian dilakukan skrining fitokimia
senyawa metabolit sekunder, selanjutnya dilakukan uji aktivitas antibakteri
ekstrak etanol bunga gemitir. (konsentrasi 20%; 40%; 60%; 80% dan 100%)
menggunakan kontrol positif (Amoksilin) dan kontrol negatif (DMSO 10%).
Aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak bunga gemitir diukur berdasarkan diameter zona
hambat yang terbentuk di sekitar cakram. Analisis data menggunakan uji statistik
Kruskall-Wallis dengan taraf kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan
ekstrak bunga gemitir positif mengandung metabolit sekunder berupa alkaloid,
flavonoid, dan fenolik, dan hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol bunga
gemitir menunjukkan terdapat aktivitas menghambat Streptococcus pyogenes
dengan kategori sedang pada konsentrasi 20%; 40%; 60%; dan 80% dengan
diameter hambat berkisar 6-9,8 mm, sedangkan pada konsentrasi 100%
mempunyai aktivitas kategori kuat dengan diameter zona hambat 11,3 mm. Uji
statistik setiap konsentrasi uji ekstrak berpengaruh nyata terhadap penghambatan
pertumbuhan Streptococcus pyogenes dibandingkan dengan kontrol negatif.
Berdasarkan uraian di atas dapat disimpulkan ekstrak etanol bunga gemitir
memiliki potensi dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus
pyogenes.

Marigold flowers or Gemitir flowers (Tagetes erecta Linn.) contain
secondary metabolic compounds such as flavonoids, phenolics and alkaloids. The
presence of this secondary metabolite has the potential to act as an antibacterial
agent against microorganisms Tagetes erecta flower. It has been widely used a
traditional medicine to cure various diseases, one of which is upper respiratory
tract infections or pharyngitis. The aim of this research was to analyze whether
the ethanol extract of gemitir flowers. Has antibacterial activity against the
growth of Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria. Gemitir flower samples were
extracted with 70% ethanol, then phytochemical screening for secondary
metabolite compounds was carried out, then the antibacterial activity test of the
ethanol extract of gemitir flowers was carried out. (concentration 20%; 40%;
60%; 80% and 100%) using positive control (Amoxicillin) and negative control
(DMSO 10%). The antibacterial activity of gemitir flower extract was measured
based on the diameter of the inhibition zone formed around the disc. Data
analysis used the Kruskall-Wallis statistical test with a confidence level of 95%.
The results of the research showed that the gemitir flower extract positively
contained secondary metabolites in the form of alkaloids, flavonoids and
phenolics, and the results of the antibacterial activity test of the ethanol extract of
the gemitir flower showed that it had moderate activity inhibiting Sterptococcus
pyogenes at a concentration of 20%; 40%; 60%; and 80% with an inhibitory
diameter ranging from 6-9.8 mm, while at a concentration of 100% it has a strong
category of activity with an inhibitory zone diameter of 11.3 mm. Statistical tests
for each extract concentration had a significant effect on inhibiting the growth of
Streptococcus pyogenes compared to the negative control. Based on the
description above, it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of gemitir flowers
has the potential to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria.
