ABSTRACT
Halimeda sp. and Turbinaria sp. are sources of various metabolites with
pharmacological and biological activities. The diversity of these metabolites can
be influenced by several factors such as environmental conditions and the solvents
used in the extraction process. This study aims to identify the differences in
metabolite profiles and major compounds in n-hexane and n-hexane:methanol
extracts of Halimeda sp. and Turbinaria sp. from the coastal waters of Seriwe
Beach, East Lombok Regency, NTB. Halimeda sp. and Turbinaria sp. were
extracted using maceration and Soxhlet extraction methods. Phytochemical testing
was conducted qualitatively using tube and TLC methods, while quantitative
testing was performed using GC-MS, and the determination of total phenolic and
flavonoid content was conducted using spectrometry methods. The results showed
that the extracts of Halimeda sp. and Turbinaria sp. contained flavonoids,
alkaloids, phenols, terpenoids, steroids, tannins, and triacylglycerol lipids.
Analysis using GC-MS indicated the presence of major compounds in the form of
fatty acids, and the determination of phenolic and flavonoid content in each
sample revealed significant differences in their levels. The highest phenolic
content in Halimeda sp. and Turbinaria sp. was 11.31 mgGAE/g and 7.74
mgGAE/g, respectively, while the highest flavonoid content in Halimeda sp. and
Turbinaria sp. was 20.48 mgQE/g and 19.67 mgQE/g, respectively.
