ABSTRACT
THE EFFECT OF EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING ON THE INCIDENCE
OF PNEUMONIA WITH COMPLICATIONS IN CHILDREN UNDER
FIVE YEARS OF AGE AT THE SIGERONGAN AND LINGSAR HEALTH
CENTERS IN WEST LOMBOK.

Background: Pneumonia is one of the leading infectious causes of death in
children worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO),
pneumonia causes 14% of all deaths of children under 5 years old with a total of
740,180 deaths (WHO 2019). Based on data from the NTB Provincial Health
Office in 2023, the estimated number of pneumonia cases found in children under
five years old was 32,128, covering 10 districts. The West Lombok region
reported an estimated 4,183 cases of pneumonia among children under five years
old (NTB Health Office 2023).
Methods: This research is a type of observational analytic correlative research
with Case Control research design. The sampling technique used Consecutive
Sampling. The research was conducted in the working area of the Sigerongan and
Lingsar West Lombok Health Center with a research sample of 66 respondents.
The data obtained were analyzed with Spearman's rho test. The limit of
significance value is p-value
