PENGARUH DIET LACTO VEGETARIAN TERHADAP KADAR HEMOGLOBIN PADA KOMUNITAS LACTO VEGETARIAN DI KECAMATAN GERUNG

Latar belakang: Diet vegetarian telah mengalami peningkatan popularitas pada masa ini. Diet vegetarian dikaitkan dengan banyak manfaat kesehatan, diantaranya dapat menurunkan risiko terkena berbagai penyakit. Meskipun demikian, jika tidak dilakukan dengan pola diet yang benar akan mengakibatkan kekurangan nutrisi terutama mikronutrien yang penting untuk sintesis hemoglobin seperti zat besi (Fe) dan vitamin B-12 sehingga seseorang yang menerapkan diet vegetarian memiliki risiko terkena anemia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh diet vegetarian terhadap angka kejadian anemia pada komunitas lacto vegetarian di kecamatan Gerung.
Metode: Penelitian ini adalah penelitian non eksperimental dengan rancangan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah komunitas lacto vegetarian di kecamatan Gerung Lombok Barat. Anggota komunitas yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dimasukkan sebagai subjek penelitian dan didapatkan 31 subjek, kemudian dilakukan pengambilan darah vena untuk pemeriksaan hemoglobin. Kadar hemoglobin diukur dengan menggunakan alat Auto Hematology Analyzer dan dinyatakan dalam satuan gram/dl. Analisis data digunakan uji Pearson.
Hasil: Dari 31 subjek penelitian, terdapat 24 orang (77,4%) memiliki kadar hemoglobin normal serta terdapat 7 orang (22,6%) memiliki kadar hemoglobin lebih rendah dari nilai normal. Berdasarkan uji korelasi dengan uji Pearson diperoleh hasil bahwa lamanya subjek penelitian menerapkan diet vegetarian tidak mempengaruhi kadar hemoglobin pada anggota komunitas lacto vegetarian di kecamatan Gerung (p = 0,977), dengan nilai kekuatan antar variabel sangat lemah (r = 0,005).
Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat pengaruh antara diet lacto vegetarian berdasarkan lamanya menjalankan diet dengan kadar hemoglobin pada anggota komunitas lacto vegetarian di kecamatan Gerung.

THE EFFECT OF LACTO VEGETARIAN DIET TOWARDS HAEMOGLOBIN LEVEL IN A LACTO VEGETARIAN COMMUNITY AT GERUNG DISTRICT

Background: Vegetarian diet has become more popular nowadays. It has been linked with many health benefits, such as lowered risk of suffering from many diseases. However, this diet could cause nutrient deficiency, especially micronutrients which are essential in haemoglobin synthesis such as iron (Fe) and vitamin B12. The aim of this study was to find out the effect of vegetarian diet on haemoglobin level within a lacto vegetarian community in Gerung.
Method: This study was a non experimental study with cross sectional design. The population in this study was a lacto vegetarian community in Gerung district at Lombok Barat regency. The member of this community that fulfill the inclusion criteria were recruited as subject of this research, there were 31 of them. Blood was drawn from each of these subjects to be tested for the haemoglobin levels, which were measured using an Auto Haematology Analyzer and were reported in gram/dl. Data analysis used Pearson test.
Results: Out of 31 subjects, there were 24 (77,4%) with normal haemoglobin levels and 7 (22,6%) with low level. According to the Pearson test conducted on these results, it was shown that the duration of which the subjects had carried out this diet was not affecting the haemoglobin levels of this community (p=0,977), with a very low correlation between variables (r=0,005).
Conclusion: There were no significant relevancy between duration of lacto vegetarian diet implementation and the haemoglobin levels within a lacto vegetarian community in Gerung District.
