PENGARUH DIET LACTO VEGETARIAN TERHADAP PERSENTASE LEMAK TUBUH PADA KOMUNITAS LACTO VEGETARIAN DI KECAMATAN GERUNG

Latar belakang: Pola diet vegetarian sudah menjadi pilihan sebagai pola diet yang sehat karena banyaknya manfaat yang bisa didapatkan dari pola diet tersebut, seperti berkurangnya risiko terkena berbagai penyakit serta rendahnya profil lemak. Akan tetapi, lemak merupakan zat gizi yang memiliki banyak manfaat bagi tubuh, sehingga hal ini menimbulkan kekhawatiran akan tidak terpenuhinya simpanan lemak tubuh seseorang yang menerapkan diet vegetarian. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pola diet Lacto vegetarian terhadap persentase lemak tubuh pada komunitas Lacto vegetarian di kecamatan Gerung.
Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian non eksperimental dengan rancangan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah komunitas Lacto vegetarian di kecamatan Gerung Lombok Barat. Penarikan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik consecutive sampling dan didapatkan 34 sampel, kemudian dilakukan pengukuran berat badan, tinggi badan, indeks massa tubuh dan persentase lemak tubuh dengan menggunakan Omron Body Composition Monitor HBF-358-BW
Hasil: Dari 34 subjek penelitian terdapat 20 orang memiliki persentase lemak tubuh kategori normal, 11 orang kategori tinggi, 2 orang kategori rendah dan 1 orang kategori sangat tinggi. Berdasarkan uji korelasi Spearman, tidak terdapat pengaruh yang bermakna antara lamanya subjek penelitian menjalani diet vegetarian dengan persentase lemak tubuh pada anggota komunitas Lacto vegetarian di kecamatan Gerung dimana diperoleh nilai signifikansi (p) > 0,05 yaitu 0,653, dengan nilai kekuatan antar variabel sangat lemah (r = 0,080).
Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat pengaruh yang bermakna antara pola diet Lacto vegetarian berdasarkan lamanya menjalankan diet dengan persentase lemak tubuh pada anggota komunitas Lacto vegetarian di kecamatan Gerung (p > 0,05). Persentase lemak tubuh subjek penelitian sebagian besar berada dalam kategori normal.

THE EFFECT OF LACTO VEGETARIAN DIET ON THE PERCENTAGE OF BODY LIPID WITHIN A LACTO VEGETARIAN COMMUNITY IN GERUNG

Background: The vegetarian diet has been a healthy dieting option due to many benefits obtained by this method, including reduced risks of suffering from certain diseases and lower lipid profiles. However, lipid is an essential nutrient needed by the human body, which aroused a concern about the poor storaage of body lipid that doesn’t meet the body requirements when this diet is implemented. The aim of this study was to find out the effect of vegetarian diet on the percentage of body lipid within a lacto vegetarian community in Gerung.
Method: This study was a non experimental study with cross sectional design. The population in this study was a lacto vegetarian community in Gerung district at Lombok Barat regency. Samples were obtained by using the consecutive sampling technique, which provided 34 subjects. The weights, heights, and body mass index of these subjects were then measured. And the body lipid percentages were calculated using the omron body composition monitor HBF-358-BW.
Results: Out of 34 subjects, 20 had normal percentage of body lipid, 11 had high percentages, 2 had low, and 1 had very high. According to the Spearman correlational test conducted on these results, it was shown that the duration of which the subjects had carried out this diet had no significant effect on the body lipid percentages of this community, with a significance value of (p) > 0,05 (p=0,653), and a very low correlation between variables (r = 0,080).
Conclusion: There were no significant relevance between duration of lacto vegetarian diet implementation and the body lipid percentage within a lacto vegetarian community in Gerung District. The body lipid percentage of the subjects were mainly within normal range.
