Latar Belakang : Gaya hidup vegetarian saat ini semakin banyak dianut oleh masyarakat di berbagai belahan dunia termasuk Indonesia. Diet vegetarian sangat baik untuk kesehatan, salah satu manfaatnya adalah menurunkan resiko untuk terjadinya penyakit kardiovaskular. Asam urat merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat menimbulkan terjadinya hipertensi. .
Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui hubungan kadar asam urat dengan tekanan darah pada pada komunitas lakto vegetarian di Pulau Lombok.
Metode : Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian non eksperimental dengan rancangan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah komunitas lakto vegetarian dan non vegetarian di Pulau Lombok. Pengukuran asam urat dan tekanan darah terhadap 41 subjek yang telah memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Uji spearman digunakan untuk menganalisis hubungan asam urat terhadap tekanan darah pada subjek .
Hasil : Berdasarkan hasil uji korelasi dengan menggunakan spearman didapatkan hubungan antara kadar asam urat dengan tekanan darah pada lakto vegetarian (p = 0,040), dengan nilai kekuatan antar variabel lemah (r = 0,300).
Kesimpulan : Terdapat hubungan yang positif antara kadar asam urat terhadap tekanan darah pada komunitas lakto vegetarian.

THE CORRELATION OF URIC ACID WITH BLOOD PREASSURE WITHIN A LACTO VEGETARIAN COMMUNITY IN LOMBOK ISLAND

Background : Nowadays vegetarian diet lifestyle is gaining its increasing popularity worldwide increasing world wide, including in Indonesia. Vegetarian diet has many health benefits, such as lowering risk for hypertension. Uric acid level is one of factors that can influence hypertension. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between uric acid level and blood pressure within lacto vegetarian community in Lombok Island.
Method : This study was a non experimental research using cross sectional design. The population in this study were lacto vegetarian and non vegetarian communities in Lombok Island. The members of community that fulfill the inclusion criteria were enrolled as subjects of this research, with total of 41 subjects. Each subject had their blood pressure and uric acid level measured. Collected data were analyzed using Spearman test.
Result : Based on the Spearman correlation test, there is a positive correlation between uric acid level and blood pressure (p = 0,04). The correlation between variables is weak (r = 0,300). Positive correlation indicates the greater the value of uric acid level in lacto vegetarian, the blood pressure also tends to increase, and vice versa.
Conclusion : There is a positive correlation between uric acid levels towards the blood pressure within a lacto vegetarian community, which means an increase of the uric acid level will also increase the blood pressure.
